Marina Rinaldi was founded in 1980 as part of the Max Mara Fashion Group for women from a size 46 up. It was Marina Rinaldi’s mission from the beginning to dress women with a few extra pounds, not just cover up their bodies. The brand pays attention to the women’s taste and expectations and their desire to be dressed in a feminine and fashionable style.

Marina Rinaldi has represented a milestone in the history of dressing by being the first in the world to propose a collection of clothes and accessories for curvy women. The goal the brand still observes today is to create garments in line with the trends from refined materials and with sartorial details. Marina Rinaldi models are sold in more than 300 shops located on the main streets of the most important cities all over the world.

The many collections, Luxury, Elegante, Voyage, Sport and Blue Label, together with the accessories, aim at enhancing the beauty of feminine shapes. Because, style is not a size…it is an attitude!

Pleasant atmosphere enhancing the natural female beauty welcomes the visitors of the Marina Rinaldi store at Široká 10, selling comfortable outfits with the utmost care paid even to the smallest detail, extremely comfortable shoes and matching bags and scarves – luxurious style without any limitations or compromises.

Spring – Summer 2019

The key words that inspire the MARINA RINALDI Spring/Summer 2019 collection are SURREALISM AND FEMININITY.

BY TONING DOWN THE COLOUR INTENSITY, HIGHLIGHTING THE GRAPHIC ASPECTS, motifs with elements created with clean lines or inspired by the techniques such as frottage, collage, assemblage and dripping. In particular, we have FOCUSED OUR ATTENTION ON UNUSUAL and ALIENATING COMBINATIONS, and even of costume and tradition, used first by Dadaism and then by Surrealism, which are now an integral part of the trends of recent years: from Alessandro Michele and Gucci later on.

MARINA SPORT SUMMER 2019

Holidays and dream destinations inspire the Marina Sport summer collection.

A journey that will take us to the discovery of warm and heavenly places like the exotic world of Tahiti, the blue and white streets of Santorini and the flower-strewn streets of Cadaqués.

The desire for freedom and light-heartedness is also expressed by the palette made up of whites and beiges joined by the bright shades of red, royal blue, green, orange and fucshia, including the timeless black.

Three images and three projects created for the perfect wardrobe of a contemporary woman who loves feminine yet practical garments.

MARINA RINALDI PRESS RELEASE SPRING 2019

The key words that inspire the collection are SURREALISM AND FEMININITY.
Surrealism in the sense of an artistic movement of the 90s that emerged from Dadaism.Drawing inspiration from this movement, we decided to place emphasis on PLAYFUL and DREAMLIKE aspects that are expressed.

BY TONING DOWN THE COLOUR INTENSITY, HIGHLIGHTING THE GRAPHIC ASPECTS that have characterised the movement and therefore choosing motifs with elements created with clean lines or inspired by the techniques used by the movement such as frottage, collage, assemblage and dripping. In particular, we have FOCUSED OUR ATTENTION ON UNUSUAL and ALIENATING COMBINATIONS that formed the basis of the revolution, and even of costume and tradition, used first by Dadaism and then by Surrealism, which are now an integral part of the trends of recent years: from Alessandro Michele and Gucci later on. There is also another aspect of the trend that is developing greatly:
“NEW FEMINISM”, which namely focuses, much more than before, on both the positive and negative sides of the feminine world. As her first message, in addition to J’ADIOR, Maria Grazia CHIURI sent on to the catwalk a t-shirt with the lettering: We should all be feminists.
Then there’s the widespread attention for the CURVY WORLD and the success of models such as Ashley Graham, so the emphasis is on purely feminine attributes, perhaps in response to the world of fashion shows that takes on androgynous-looking models who are too skinny and not so pretty.

Attention also goes to the negative aspects of a female world when you consider that the majority of media reports involve female homicides, going as far as coining the neologism: femicide.

So, using SURREALISM and FEMININITY we managed to join together two different worlds and were inspired by the WOMEN OF SURREALISM, that is to say, the women who had an active part in the movement: LEONOR FINI, EILEEN AGAR and MERET OPPENHEIM.

MARINA RINALDI PRESS RELEASE SUMMER 19

CEREMONY

The inspiration is always linked to close matching garments and to flowers that have always been the absolute protagonists in every special occasion, from the most important to the simplest ones.
The colours are rigorously summery.

ELEGANTE

With regard to the elegant range, we were inspired by two receptions that have made history in terms of hospitality: the reception organised for Elizabeth Taylor’s 40th birthday in 1972 and the one that took place coinciding with the release of The Who’s film Tommy, called: The Tommy Subway Party that took place in 1975, in one of New York’s subway stations.
The Parties took place 2 years apart but seemed more like a decade; that of Elizabeth Taylor’s, like Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball, was about the Jet Set, bon ton, dress codes, the Tommy Subway Party was the exact opposite: confusion, extravagance, freedom, transgression.

MARINA RINALDI

As previously stated, the trends of the season refer to surrealism and femininity.

Surrealism has been extensively developed in the first part of the season alongside femininity, but we have decided that it would have to accompany us even in summer, placing emphasis on a female universe that has hardly had any say in that matter.
Populations of exploited and mutilated women, hidden and ghettoised even by their own husbands and children, women who have been underrepresented in the world: African women.

The inclusion phenomenon, of which there is much talk about today, also includes those women who are unlikely to emerge.

We were inspired by some African women who somehow managed to become someone, to make their voices heard worldwide: WANGARI MAATHAI (the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize), WARIS DIRIE (was one of the most sought-after “supermodels” by important designers, an actress and also a Bond Girl, Today she is a writer and a political activist) and MIRIAM MAKEBA (was one of the most important figures in South African music).

INSPIRATION

Sailing the ocean, from the savanna to the jungle. A journey that explores natural habitats and their inhabitants.

Three eco-systems to describe our woman through a lens, we can add femininity, contemporaneity, daily life and determination, like using a photographic filter.

The palette consists of a range of basic colours: white, sand, overseas blue, khaki green and black are teamed with bright shades of orange, air force blue, turquoise and lime yellow.
A collection divided into three colour images and two symbol sports projects: ‘’Safari’’ consisting of sweatshirts, and ”Flamingo’’ consisting of shirts.
